The inspiration for the bulbous shape of Tohaku candles comes from a sturdy pine tree. At the same time, it pays homage to the painting "The Pine Trees" by one of Japan's most famous painters, Tohaku Hasegawa. The pine trees in his painting are from the landscape of Nanao City and are made from memories of beautiful nature from his childhood. The flame of the candle is an extension of the soft lines of these trees, evoking a rustic simplicity.

Takazawa candles are known in Japan for their particularly bright and strong flame. This is because the wick's hollow core draws in oxygen from below, increasing combustion efficiency and creating a strong flame. Thanks to the use of natural, plant-based waxes, Takazawa candles burn fragrance-free with minimal smoke development.

Since the candles are made from natural sumac wax, their color scale ranges in muted tones from off-white to gray and beige.

The KOMA L candle holder goes with TOHAKU L.
