Over time, the brass undergoes a color change due to natural oxidation processes. Within a very short time, an attractive light brown patina develops, followed by rust tones. The original shine can be maintained by using a polishing cloth.

FUTAGAMI is a brass foundry founded in 1897 in Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture, Japan, with a history spanning over 120 years. FUTAGAMI specializes in traditional crafts such as Buddhist altar fittings and has developed brass casting techniques since its inception. In 2009, the company launched its brass homeware brand “FUTAGAMI” in collaboration with designer OJI Masanori, breathing new life into brass, a material that is gradually disappearing from our everyday lives, by creating beautifully designed homeware products.
