In Japan, it is common to serve soy sauce in a dispenser instead of the original bottle. An essential item on any Japanese table, every family has at least one dispenser and there are many types on the market. Almost 50 years after its debut, the Type G soy sauce dispenser is still in production and has a design that has stood the test of time.

  • Made in Japan
  • Material: porcelain
  • Size: W 6 .8 x H 9.4 cm
  • Dishwasher safe

It was designed in 1958 and is considered one of Masahiro Mori's most famous pieces for Hakusan porcelain. It won the Good Design Prize in 1960 and the Long Life Design Prize in 1977 for its combination of functionality and a simple, beautiful form. The elephant trunk-like spout makes pouring easier without dripping.

The use of soy sauce outside of Japan has increased due to the popularity of sushi and health foods. Although an iconic piece of Japanese tableware, the G-type soy sauce dispenser also pairs well with a western-style table setting.
