Furoshiki is a traditional square cloth whose use dates back to the Edo period, where it was once used to store clothing or goods. The cloths are versatile. You can, among other things, tie it together to form a practical fabric bag or use it as bottle and gift packaging.

Thanks to people's increasing environmental awareness, long-lasting furoshiki are enjoying growing popularity again and are ensuring a revival of this traditional product.

FUROSHIKI are made of thin cotton material, but are durable, long-lasting and easy to knot.

KAMAWANU specializes in producing TENUGUI, a hand-dyed rectangular fabric traditionally used in Japan as functional household goods/garments for everyday use. The TENUGUI is made using the “CHUSEN” hand-dyeing technique, which dates back to the Meiji period more than 100 years ago and is still used today by artisans who appreciate its refined textures and visual qualities. Since its founding in 1987, KAMAWANU has developed more than 500 different TENUGUI patterns, breathing new life into the “CHUSEN” hand-dyeing tradition, including training “CHUSEN” apprentice craftsmen.
